Everyone can attest that life gets a bit busy when you have a couple of things to juggle. With work, kids and other activities, one may not get enough time to meal prep every day. Getting the portions right and taste value of the food is a major part of meal prep. It cannot be a rushed job.

There are many reasons as to why people prefer weekly meal preps. The major reason is that you get to save time during the week as you rush about. Those who are on strict diets for health or lifestyle reasons need the time to prep so that they can get the proportions right.

Meal prepping doesn’t mean you pick complicated dishes that take hours to cook. You also want something that can be done in short time but still remain delicious.

Obviously, if you are prepping meals for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, you’ll need more ingredients. As such, things can get a bit crazy in the kitchen but if you keep it simple, then you can always see yourself through.

Make sure to use different storage containers for meat and vegetables. Use clean cutlery and ensure that hot foods have cooled down a bit before you refrigerate them.

Sometimes after a few days in the fridge, you may find that some foods develop a smell or starting to go bad. This may be attributed to the kind of dishes that you are using to store your food.

How to Nail a Perfect Week of Meal Prep

The thing is to make certain that the containers you are using are a dishwasher-safe, microwave, and freezer-safe. Therefore, the food can be maintained at the right temperatures before warming and consumption. Many prefer glass as it is less susceptible to storing bacteria in scratches and cracks. They are also very easy to clean.

Theme Days

Unless you are a zombie, your food has to have some taste. You cannot eat one type of food for all your days. Theme days are fantastic ways of getting new ideas for your meals. It also makes it easier to prep since there are ingredients that work for most of the planned dishes.

If you can, keep up with the Meatless Mondays, Taco Tuesdays, Whatever Wednesdays, Pasta Thursdays, and Fish Fridays. Switching up themes will instill some fun in the whole process and keep your taste buds happy.
